People who thought water gardening was far from entering mainstream America may think twice once they hear about the newest addition to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. According to a July release from the Associated Press, “aquascape” is one of the newest entries to the dictionary.
The word “aquascape” is listed as a noun; it means a scenic view of a body of water or an area having a natural or constructed aquatic feature. “This addition to the dictionary means that ponds are on people’s minds and tongues, which makes Greg Wittstock, president and CEO of Aquascape Designs, a happy man,” stated Aquascape Designs. “It’s great to know that ponds are getting that popular,” Wittstock said. “And having the word ‘aquascape’ representing our craft makes it all the more wonderful for my company and those who install and sell our products.”
