Walters Gardens, Inc. Receives Alternative Energy Grant
Michigan State Representative Bill Huizenga and Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Development Division, Robert Craig recently delivered a check for $87,750 to Walters Gardens, Inc., to honor the company's dedication to agricultural innovation, according to Walters Gardens.
This grant from the Agricultural Innovation Fund, also known as the Julian-Stille Value-added Program, provides Walters Gardens, Inc., with the funding to purchase required pollution-control equipment to use in conjunction with its biomass burner, which was installed last year. The equipment that will be purchased with this grant money will help burn corn and wood pellets more efficiently. The grant also lays the groundwork to be able to test other alternative fuels in the future.
EuroAmerican Catalog Wins GWA Award
EuroAmerican Propagators LLC recently announced its 2006-2007 The Nature of Color catalog has received the Garden Writers Association (GWA) Gold Award for Best Trade Product. At 208 pages, the full-color catalog has information for growers and retailers looking to add color, functionality and cutting-edge varieties to their product mixes.
EuroAmerican’s catalog was one of 314 entries submitted in all categories for the GWA awards, presented annually. The Nature of Color took home the top trade prize.
