The largest contingent of North American manufacturers are scheduled to unveil their newest products at Glee, the international buying event for garden, pet and leisure, taking place Sept. 21 to 23, in Birmingham, England. Attracting more than 22,000 visitors and 1,400 international suppliers in 2007, the 2008 edition is expecting another large turnout. These companies will showcase their wares to the Glee audience that includes independent garden centers, nurseries, pet and aquatic retailers, DIY outlets, landscaping companies and other businesses from around the world.
“The weak dollar and the strength of the British gardening and pet sectors has led to a surge of North American participation in the show,” said Adam Ash, president of White Hound Advertising and North American agent for the show. “As companies look to find new and growing markets for their products, they are increasingly looking to the UK as a natural launch pad for their operations into Europe. The strength of the pound means that North American products are incredibly attractive to UK retailers, and the strength of Glee means that we can deliver an audience that is receptive to new ideas and hungry for new products from around the world.”
Among the many North American companies exhibiting at this year’s Glee are Barnel International, Crescent Garden/Darnel Inc., Deer Park Ironworks LLC, Emsco Group, Freedom Inc., Gardenstone, Hibbert & Reeves, Just Organics, Montana Iron Creations, Outdoor Accents, QDG designs, QMT Associates, Savio Engineering and the Shubh Collection.
