Van Wilgen’s Garden Center in North Bradford, Connecticut, has installed an electric car charging station in its parking lot meant for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Garden center owner, Ryan Van Wilgen, told the New Haven Register this is part of the store’s commitment to limiting the use of gas. The garden center also runs off biodiesel instead of gas.

Van Wilgen spent $4,500 to install the unit instead of applying for state grants. Before installation, the nearest station was two miles from the garden center.

Customers can charge their vehicles at no cost during business hours.
