Connecticut Landscaper Wants Organic Garden CenterSource: Alice Tessier for the Litchfield County Times

A proposal by local landscapers in New Milford, Conn., would create an organic gardening center with both retail and activity space.

A proposal by local landscapers in New Milford, Conn., would create an organic gardening center with both retail and activity space, reports Alice Tessier for the Litchfield County Times.

The property at 354 Litchfield Road is currently zoned for residential use, but owner Chris Bruzzi hopes to get this changed to mixed use, which would allow for retail and office space as well as related landscaping.

Bruzzi has been a landscape contractor for 17 years and owns Bruzzi Lawn & Landscape LLC. He told the paper that opening an organic garden center has been a dream of his for years.

The first floor of the house would be used as retail and activity space, while the second floor would be used for office space and a library of horticulture books, according to Bruzzi’s proposal.

A public hearing on the proposal will continue Aug. 15, 2013 at the town hall.
