Going Through the Motions
From Orlando, Florida, to Puyallup, Washington, I've been fortunate enough to visit A LOT of garden centers. And if you ever catch me saying: "If you've seen one garden center, you've seen them all," then I should probably step down as managing editor of Lawn & Garden Retailer. I do have to admit, though, there are times when I've walked out of an IGC feeling completely uninspired. But I guess that makes the unique and inspiring garden centers, well, that much more unique and inspiring.
I encountered two such enjoyable retailers on my recent trip to Columbus, Ohio, for OFA Short Course - White Oak Garden Center in Cincinnati and Grandma's Gardens just south of Dayton. Both locations clearly understand the power color can have on a customer's visit. For some late season inspiration, check out the colorful photos I took at each IGC on our Facebook page.
So Long Louisville...
Have you heard the big news? With the end of the ANLA Management Clinic, OFA and ANLA have announced the development of a new, joint event named "Next Level," that will take place next January in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.
According to OFA CEO Michael Geary, "Every individual, every organization has a next level, the next dimension of performance and results to realize. The Next Level event is designed to help participants clarify their own next level, expose them to the ideas and insights to help bridge that gap, and connect them to like-minded colleagues who can support their journey."
The educational program is currently under development. Further details will be available at the end of September. So keep tabs...it should be good. For more information on the partnership between OFA and ANLA and the Next Level event visit www.onevoiceoneindustry.com.
