Home & Garden Showplace and the Garden Center Group Co-Op of Canada have partnered together to bring additional efficiencies to Canadian garden centers while helping the independent garden center compete more effectively in the marketplace. The partnership will deliver significant value to the respective cooperative’s members by aligning their keen insight for product assortments and offerings, growth opportunities and merchandising power.

This partnership between Home & Garden Showplace and the Garden Center Group Co-Op will have a longstanding impact on the respective retailers. By adding the Garden Center Group Co-Op to the membership the goal is to have an integrated group of garden centers that can share ideas, best practices and create synergy for the garden center industry.

“Our structures, both being member owned co-operatives, make this alliance a perfect fit. When we initially sat around the table we were surprised at how similarly our businesses operated. Both our roles are to provide more and better buying opportunities for our members, which in turn allow them and us to grow our businesses. We see the alliance as yet another chance to strengthen the independent retail garden centre. We are very enthusiastic to be working together,” said Henry King, President of the Garden Centre Group Co-Op of Canada.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Garden Centre Group Co-Op, a recognized leader in the Canadian marketplace, and to expand the Home & Garden Showplace footprint internationally” said Sue Amatangelo, Director of Home & Garden Showplace. “I see this alliance as a significant step towards making our entire industry stronger through

a closer work relationship between our two organizations.”
