Houston Garden Center Closes

Calloway’s Inc. shut down Cornelius Nursery’s Dairy Ashford location in Houston, Texas, on Jan. 4, according to a CultureMap Houston article. Cornelius Nursery merged with Fort-Worth-based Calloway’s Inc. in 1999.

All full-time employees at the garden center are expected to transfer to Corelius Nursery’s Voss Road location, which is also in Houston. The future of the former site, however, is unknown.

“No one really knows what’s going on right now,” Sam Weger, director of recruiting and training at Calloway’s, told CultureMap Houston over the phone. “We do know the company is searching right now for another location, hopefully in the same area, to keep a second Cornelius open in Houston.”
