IGC East Hosts Inaugural Event

IGC East’s first year, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland from Aug. 5-7, has been described as a “solid success,” according to buyers and vendors. The three-day event included thousands of new products in the trade show hall, keynotes from retail dynamo Corey Bordine and restaurateur Willie Degel and after-hours entertainment. The positive buzz was heard from customers and vendors alike.

“In just the first two days of the show, we placed 30 orders,” says Jim Crowell, owner of Atlantic Garden Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

“We saved a lot of money with the IGC Show specials.” Some vendors felt the new location brought new customers.

“We saw East Coast garden buyers who we used to see in Atlanta but don’t any more, and new buyers we’ve never seen before at any other event,” says Keith Turbett, vice president of Scheurich USA Inc.

“We were excited to be so busy.” IGC East will return for a second year in the same Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area, according Jeff Morey, IGC show founder and CEO. IGC Chicago is set for Aug. 19-21 at Navy Pier.
