Family-owned Linder’s Greenhouses Inc. is closing its doors after over 100 years of business. The company, which opened in 1910, had its main production site on 52 acres in St. Paul, Minn., and 53 flower marts in the Twin Cities last spring.

“We will be having an orderly wind down of the business in the coming weeks,” the company wrote in a message on its website.

Dave Linder, the nursery’s third-generation owner, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press the financing needed to keep the business open fell through as they continued to struggle from the recession and poor spring weather.

T he company’s 50 full-time employees will lose their jobs along with more than 1,000 seasonal workers hired each spring.

“All good things must come to an end, I suppose,” Linder told the paper, “and we’re at the end.”
