National Park Services Chooses Garden Mums from Syngenta Flowers for White HouseSource: Syngenta Flowers

Syngenta Flowers, Inc. recently announced that the National Park Service requested that Tidal Creek Growers provide 2,000 containers of 'Spicy Cheryl Orange', a two-toned garden mum, especially for the White House gardens.

Syngenta Flowers, Inc. recently announced that earlier this fall, the National Park Service requested that Maryland-based grower Tidal Creek Growers provide 2,000 eight-inch containers of ‘Spicy Cheryl Orange’, a two-toned garden mum, especially for the White House.

The mums are planted outside the Oval Office and near the fountains on White House grounds for thousands of visitors to view.

This is the third year the National Park Service has chosen ‘Spicy Cheryl Orange’ to decorate the gardens.

The National Park Service also grew ‘Sparkling Cheryl Yellow’ and ‘Kathleen Dark Red’ for the White House gardens this year. Previously, ‘Andrea Orange Bicolor’ had also been used at the White House.

Throughout the season, a representative from the National Park Service visited Tidal Creek Growers to monitor the mums’ progress to ensure they would bloom in tandem with other plants being featured in the same gardens.

“The National Park Service clearly knows what they want and have a good eye for premium mums,” said Liz Hunt, head of marketing for Syngenta Flowers. “Spicy Cheryl is at the top of its class for no-pinch production, strong but flexible stems, excellent flower longevity and outstanding bloom coverage. And the vivid orange color they chose is truly striking in the fall landscape.”
