Oregon Garden Center Finds New Owner

Gray's Garden Centers in Eugene, Ore., and Springfield, Ore., have reopened under new owner Scott Bocci.

Gray’s Garden Centers in Eugene, Ore., and Springfield, Ore., have reopened under new owner Scott Bocci. The company closed in December 2013 after a judge ordered liquidation.

Bocci returns after owning the garden center for nine years before selling it in 2007 to James and Liz Kline for $990,000, according to a report in the Register-Guard.

” When I operated it before, it was a very, very good business,” he told the paper. “It prospered. It was a happy place to be. I didn’t want it to die of neglect.”

Bocci has brought back almost 10 key people from when he owned the business previously, but he is looking to hire more staff quickly as the busy season approaches.

Although Bocci did not receive any of the money from gift certificate purchases, Gray’s Garden Centers will still honor these certificates.

The location in Springfield will change to Gray’s Garden Center Outlet with bargain prices. Bocci has spoken with growers about purchasing the extra unwanted plants from growers at discounted rates.
