Scotts Miracle-Gro Acquires Canadian Peat Moss ManufacturerSource: Columbus Dispatch

It was reported that the Canadian subsidiary of Scotts Miracle-Gro recently acquired Quebec-based Fafard and Brothers Ltd., a company that manufacturers peat moss and other related gardening products.

JD Malone of the Columbus Dispatch reports, ” The purchase will add $40 million to Scotts’ annual sales.” Fafard and Brothers Ltd. produces peat moss, composts and soils. According to Malone, the provinces of Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick are this company’s main markets.

Jim Hagedorn, chairman and CEO of ScottsMiracle-Gro, said in a statement, ” Acquiring Fafard will allow us to further strengthen our North American competitiveness.”
