Windmill Nursery to Host Six Breeders for California Spring Trials

Six breeders are planning for a joint-venture varieties display at Windmill Nursery in Buellton, Calif., for 2014 California Spring Trials.

Six breeders are planning for a joint-venture varieties display at Windmill Nursery in Buellton, Calif., for 2014 California Spring Trials. The partnership will include Westhoff, Beekenkamp, Skagit Gardens, PAC-Elsner, Terra Nova Nurseries and Plug Connection.

The display, Spring Trials @ Windmill Nursery, will be open Sun. April 6 to Wed. April 9, 2014, as a launching ground for new plant varieties; signage and packaging products; and merchandising programs and concepts.

Skagit Gardens will showcase new selections of hellebores from the Heuger Gold Collection, along with the debut of several new long-blooming perennials and an encore performance by the compact helenium, named ‘Short n Sassy’.

Plug Connection will present Mighty ‘Mato’, Mesa Magic Cyclamen and certified organic veggies and herbs.

German-based company Westhoff will show its new breeding in lobelia, calibrachoa and others.

Beekenkamp, a European begonia, dahlia and poinsettia breeder, will display its varieties along with several new varieties for the North American market.

PAC-Elsner, a German breeding company that specializes in plant and cutting distribution, laboratory, breeding and growing, will also showcase its new 2014 varieties.

Windmill Nursery is located at 925 W. Highway 246 in Buellton.
