You’re CoveredBy Abby (Kleckler) McGarry

Cultivate’15 in Columbus, Ohio, wrapped up last week, and if you weren’t there, take my word for it: It was a great show.

With approximately 10,000 attendees, 120 educational sessions and two trade show areas, there was a lot to see and do. The Garden Center Group, hosted by Danny Summers and Sid Raisch, enlisted the help of your fellow retailers to do some work for you.

They walked the trade show floor and came up with 10 products that knocked their socks off. Here they are: Asian Veg Seed with Carryout Containers by American Takii Seed; Bloembagz by Bloem; Vertical Shutter by Braun Horticulture; Buddleia ‘Wisteria Lane’ by Cultivaris; Asclepias ‘Monarch Promise’ by Hort Couture; Barrel Art from Haiti by Le Primitif Galleries; Hydrangea macrophila ‘Noblisse’ by Plants Nouveau; Calibrachoa ‘Holy Moly’ by Proven Winners; Zoo Collection of succulents, planters and topiaries by Theuts Flower Barn; and ChickCharms Hens & Chicks by Willoway Nurseries.

Do any of these catch your eye? They already won the Retailers’ Choice Awards at Cultivate’15, but which ones will be winners in your garden center? Tell me all about your hottest new products at [email protected].

We Have A Winner

The Retail District was a happening place at Cultivate’15 and that included the Minute to Win It — Retail Challenge. Attendees came to watch (from left) Jay Harper from Harper’s Landscape Co. and Gardening Centre, Crystal Cady from Sunflower Acres Farm & Garden and Jeff Wallitsch from Wallitsch Nursery and Garden Center battle it out.

After some container creation, speedy merchandising and athletic prowess, Crystal Cady came out on top … winning two of the three challenges! Congrats to all the participants, and thanks to those who came out to watch.

Cheers,

Abby
