Bailey Nurseries Consolidates Iowa Operations

Since 1884, Sherman Nursery of Charles City, Iowa, has been a horticultural leader in the United States and, since 1984, has been owned by Bailey Nurseries of Newport, Minn., operating independently as a wholesale supplier of nursery stock.

After much consideration, Bailey Nurseries has recently decided to consolidate various aspects of Sherman’s operations into Bailey Nurseries.

“For well over a century, the employees of Sherman have given their customers quality plants and superior service, setting the highest standard for Bailey Nurseries to uphold,” said Terri McEnaney, president of Bailey Nurseries.

There are many details to work through, and the change will progress through June 2009. Production operations will remain in Charles City and will be named Bailey Nurseries, Sherman Division.

“We are confident this change will result in growth opportunities for our nationwide customers,” David Fuchs, Sherman Nursery president, added. “The Bailey organization has a strong commitment to their employees and customers, to the quality of their products and to the entire green industry.”
