Gertens Has Plans to Go BiggerSource: Pioneer Press

The Inver Grove Heights garden center and nursery near Saint Paul, Minn., wants to add 250,000 square feet of greenhouse space on its land – something that would be done over several phases and years, reports Pioneer Press’ Nick Ferraro.

Plans call for the new greenhouses to be built on 6 acres of existing planting fields. Gertens owns nearly 47 acres of land in a commercial area. The company is asking the city council to rezone the 6 acres to allow for the greenhouse expansion. The request to expand will go before the council at the end of the month.

Since Spring ’97, Gertens’ business has tripled its retail space by opening a 39,000-square-foot building.
